MIDDLE KASHY’S CAMPS

A DIVERSE RANGE OF FALLOUT 76 CAMP BUILD CONCEPTS RANGING FROM SIMPLE TO COMPLEX, MOSTLY CLEAN AND OFTEN THOUGHT PROVOKING.

The Fallout 76 CAMPs of Middle KASHY are as diverse as they are focused in theme and design. From a run-down theme park to a train station to a crisp cube misplaced in neglected surrounds, each CAMP is its own thing, sometimes blending in, sometimes standing out shamelessly. Middle KASHY started discovering some more tricks with lights, becoming a discreet feature from early on built into the designs.

KASHY KUBE

2022

One morning I had an idea that I shared with my shower screen of a cube that was completely featureless other than interesting corners. No windows, no doors, no interruptions to its surfaces. A box that wasn’t quite. The outcome is exactly that, the complete opposite of its surroundings. Grey walls contrast with glowing white corners on all 4 sides. Inside an open modern feel marks it is perhaps a commercial space, with a fully functional workshop and shelter accesses upstairs. NOTE: Currently, illuminated exterior corners are blue, but this may change from time to time.

LOCATION: Watoga.

TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS: Manually aligned internally illuminated 45 degree corner walls, doorless entry and exit system, alien-bench functional staircase that can also be sat upon naturally, recessed / foundation-merged shelter entries, floating weapon displays etc. Skill level Moderate+

KASHY STATION

2022

Inspired by grand European rail stations, KASHY Station provides a multi-platform undercover facility. With a casual diner, ticket office, seating on each platform, vending machines and other distractions, it is a pleasant environment in which to wait for trains that will never leave or arrive. A generous workshop is provided, along with emergency medical services and many shelter entrances located up, down and sideways. Those who explore will find a pleasant onsen in an abandoned carriage nearby. The video below is of the first iteration, and the minor minor updates since have added functionality but not changed the basic structure.

LOCATION: Beside R&G Station

TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS: Perfect alignment and heights of platforms, integrated shelter entries, floating signage (not shown here), various subtle merges and manipulations. Direct access to most shelters. Skill level Moderate.

PETRA

2025

In a lonely valley, a creek runs from a risky lake into a narrow gorge. Inside, an ancient stone structure is built directly into the cliffside. A group of archaeologists set up a scaffolding camp opposite to conduct their work, with two huts up top for artifact storage and sleeping. As word spread of the discovery, people started returning to the area, and soon enterprising locals took advantage of the unused top level of the scaffolding to set up a market under a makeshift faded canopy. It wasn’t long before tourists arrived, while “entrepreneurs” started thinking of ways to cash in. Eventually a local government was corrupted by a financially accommodating nightclub operator who wanted to operate from behind the stone facade.

To overcome local opposition and stay out of international headlines, a deal was done where the original church inside was to be preserved, and an old side door re-opened for nightclub access. Signage was not allowed, but with no rules about lighting or effects, blue and lilac glows were added by the investor along with a couple of inauthentic gargoyles and steam for atmosphere. The result is a unique archaeological / nightclub site that UNESCO doesn’t know what to do with.

LOCATION: Near the southern tip of Lake Eloise.

TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS: Construction of stone building directly into the rock wall, with direct access through the main door to the Kathedral (Forbidden Digsite Shelter) and side door to the Nightclub (Server Room Shelter). Discreet lighting and steam effects that differentiate structures, integrated columns, full width stairs and so on. Scaffolding building built against the opposite rock face with no gaps, fully functional workshop and storage areas, market on the top level, custom safety ramps, and many little things for the keen explorer to find. Tool Sheds were used for the huts, one of which has integrated shelter accesses, the other sleeping quarters. Far too many details and features throughout to list here. Direct access to most shelters. Skill level (revised building rules) Moderate+

KASHY ART

2022

KASHY ART rests on the still water, a clean white structure of unique, yet simple, design and proportions that baths in light during the day, and emits its own light at night. It exists at odds with its surroundings, an island of elegance amongst the mess. Inside, elegantly displayed paintings, tribal art and artifacts tell visitors that although the world has gone to hell, it is not necessary for us to go with it. Rectangular ponds with submerged lighting are mirrored by skylights above, complementing clean white walls. Outside, basic necessities, resources and shelter accesses are accessible through the repurposed gift shop, which is now significantly different to the video. However, the gallery itself is for all intents and purposes unchanged.

LOCATION: Near Sunshine Meadows Industrial farm

TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS: Simple-looking roof design, double-walls, use of terrain and water, subtle merging of various elements. Direct access to shelters. Skill level Moderate.

THE KONTRADICTION

2024

Bathed in pink light, the Kontradiction is 2 structures in one. A square-ish block sits in the lake, solid and sensible in a the style of a contemporary public space. A glass structure with curved sides almost just happens to sit in the same space, resulting in a curved inner structure and a mostly square external one, each independent from the other. Under a square skylight, a long pond within a pond occupies the centre, decorated by displays of local wildlife. An office sits at one end while a gorilla enjoys the other, both surrounded by mysterious glowing green. In each corner, tribal art and floral displays are warmed by orange lighting, and light food and refreshments are available for visitors. Outside the main room are overgrown gardens and vine-covered walls, along with 2 lift lobbies for shelter access at the entry, as well as cave access through window apertures.

LOCATION: South of Lake Eloise, not far from the Ranger Station Bunker

TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS: Design concept, manual alignment of wall pieces (especially curved walls) to achieve symmetry. Floating Roof, concealed lighting, lift-lobby-style shelter doors, subtle merging. Direct shelter access. Skill level Advanced.

KASHY KADE WATERPARK

2022

Surrounded by a river of toxic water and contagious diseases, KASHY KADE Waterpark provides a safe and relaxing escape. Ok, the water is still going to give you diarrhea and an infection, but at least you can see the bottom. The pool’s underwater fires keep it warm year round, so there is no necessity for visitors to pee in it, not that you’d notice. The nearby waterslide is fun for all the family who enjoy wedgies, an entertainer plays the same snippet repeatedly, and the onsen is relaxing if the dog isn’t in it first (it often is). BBQ facilities, snacks and drinks are available, as are rides for kids, although letting them accidentally drown is cheaper. KASHY KADE appears to have been built in the 60s or 70s, so is a bit tired in design, but it remains a lovely place in which to lie back, relax and get skin cancer.

LOCATION: Opposite Kanawha County Cemetery

TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS: Underground fires, underwater signage, floating cladding, interesting sign feature, mysterious cola light, not much else. Direct access to most shelters. Difficulty Moderate.

THE RETREAT

2023

TA_NOCCHi expressed an affection for the outlook at this generally-ignored location, so I built this. The style is inspired by Japanese and south-east Asian style cues, but is in essence modern, or at least modernised. The small red shrine (not shown in the photos below) is the most traditional element, comfortably humble and unpretentious. The larger room combines all the elements inside, with an amazingly complex roof that emanates and reflects blue lights in the dark. There is a floating Katana near the entry over a cleansing bowl, with water features and pot plants softening the environment while quiet seating and refreshments make it a calm yet practical space. At the front, visitors may notice a double-width concrete staircase over 2 levels, with concealed lighting casting soft blue lighting for added atmosphere. An onsen, hammock and seating ensure the outside is as attractive as the inside. It’s a special place to be. *Note - Tatami mats shown here used in the video “Broken” are wonderfully appropriate, but unfortunately only a mod. The stones around the water features in the first picture on the left below were added in custom world for the video, but its such a lovely photo of Middle KASHY in context I wanted to use it here anyway. Featured in the video BROKEN

LOCATION: Near Sylvie and Sons Logging Camp.

TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS: Design and construction of both roofs, atmospheric lighting, double-width steps with no gap at the front, offset steps to the small shrine, semi-recessed shelter entries, floating katana, and other small merged and partly floating elements. Direct access to most shelters. Difficulty level Advanced.
